The shell is constructed from rugged 10 oz waxed canvas with an additional 4 oz wax coating for added weather resistance. High-wear areas including the elbows, cuffs, shoulders, and back are reinforced with multiple layers of waxed canvas. This added structure dramatically increases durability in the places that see the most abuse while also improving wind and weather resistance where it matters most.
The body and sleeves are insulated with heavyweight wool batting and fully lined in smooth worsted wool, a deliberate choice over synthetic fills and down. Wool continues to insulate even when wet, unlike down which collapses and loses its ability to retain heat once moisture is introduced. Snow, rain, sweat, and condensation are unavoidable in real use, and wool is uniquely suited to handle all of it. Integrated wool storm cuffs help seal out cold air and wind, creating a natural thermal barrier at the wrists without added bulk.
Wool fibers naturally regulate temperature by absorbing and releasing moisture vapor, keeping you warm without overheating. It’s breathable, resilient, and inherently fire resistant, with no reliance on plastic fibers or chemical treatments. Unlike down, wool does not migrate, clump, or permanently flatten over time, and it does not require baffles to keep it in place. It holds its structure and continues to perform season after season.
A two-way #10 solid brass YKK zipper anchors the front, chosen specifically for a true heavyweight work jacket. It allows for ease of use while sitting, driving, riding, or accessing layers worn underneath without sacrificing strength or reliability.
Back gussets allow for unrestricted movement and help prevent sleeve pull-up during overhead work, riding machinery, or on a motorcycle. The shortened length keeps the jacket functional and comfortable while seated, while the adjustable elastic waist helps dial in the fit without compromising mobility.
Sheepskin-lined hand pockets provide unbeatable warmth when conditions turn cold, while expandable front dump pockets are designed to stow tools, gloves, or field gear out in the field without restriction. Interior storage includes a secure zip pocket alongside an open pocket for everyday essentials.
